Preserving our Past for the Future

Founded in 1984, the Arrow Lakes Historical Society is a registered non-profit society whose mandate is to collect, preserve, and provide ready access to archival materials
which illustrate the history, growth, and development of the Arrow Lakes and Trout Lake/upper Lardeau areas.

The society is operated by an Office Manager and an Archives Collection Manager, and by dedicated volunteers. We are eager to assist you in pursuing your research efforts
and historical interests.

We have:
- over a dozen books for sale, written by local authors about regional history.
- over 40,000 photographs and slides.
- 500 hours of audio recordings conducted with local pioneers and historic figures.
- over 500 maps, including aerial survey maps from the flooding of the Arrow Lakes.
- an extensive newspaper clipping collection covering local history and people.
- materials regarding the implementation of the Columbia River Treaty and its effect on the region.
- eight 1:40 scale sternwheeler models, one tug, and one dredge.
