Canada Day Celebrations July 1st in Nakusp, with a Pancake Breakfast by the volunteer firefighters, a parade, and then all sorts of activities at the community park such as kid's races, fun games of chance, a concession, and music in the gazebo. | | As the skatepark lies adjacent to the community park, it is not unusual for a skateboard competition to be held the same day. | The BC Day long weekend in August always promises lots of activities in Nakusp, including the Build Bail & Sail, the Sandcastle Contest and a Softball Tournament. To help you prepare for the Sandcastle Contest in 2008, a special weekend of Sand Sculpture Workshops will be held July 26 & 27, 2008, taught by David Ducharme, professional sand, ice and snow sculptor. | Ongoing events in the summer include ArtWalk in Nakusp, farmers’ markets in Nakusp and Edgewood, as well as Music In The Park every Wednesday evening, at the gazebo in Nakusp. |
 Photo: Bill Regner | During winter the Arrow Lakes Ridge Riders hosts poker runs (on snowmobiles), one can try for “the big one” in the annual fishing derby, and the Arrow Lakes Arts Council hosts a series of fine cultural events such as pianists, plays, and recently a mime artist. |
| Nakusp’s Santa Claus Parade in early December is a highlight for many children, and the evening is rounded out by a carol sing and hot refreshments. |
